Companies receive many benefits from investing in their workspaces, including achieving better employee retention and a more positive work culture. Today’s work environment also plays an important role in business development: A highly functional, ergonomic design can help attract the best employees and strengthen employee morale, thereby inspiring productivity.


Backgrounder

According to a 2011 study from Ohio State University and the National Institute of Mental Health, work environment seriously impacts employees’ health, motivation and productivity.

With this in mind, we created a design concept that will be a perfect complement to the Grammarly’s work environment. The ideas reflect the company’s spirit and promote a strong culture, functionality and sense of well-being.


Design

The office area occupies the top floor of a 14-story office building with the ground level featuring a 28.8 ft high ceiling and 13,993 sq ft of open space. To use the space more effectively and adjust to the client’s functional needs, the architects designed a 295 ft suspension bridge. It loops around the office in a gentle curve, overlooking the entire office and expanding slightly to accommodate lounge zones in its path, including a fireplace, a library and a nap room.

Extensive use of eco-friendly materials and natural wood, multiple references to the outdoors in the lounge areas, and the abundance of natural light create a positive work-life balance for the team and contribute to the highest levels of their comfort and efficiency.

We placed the meet-up zone on the ground floor, and made it a core element, a heart, of the office, around which six open-space working zones, each with soundproof qualities, are located. Several individual box rooms offer privacy for quiet work and one-on-one communication. Larger meeting rooms, with capacities of 8 to 15 people, are located around the meet-up zone and are finished in different colors.
